Objectives
3 OBJECTS 3.1 To enhance foreign domestic workers (FDW) contribution to their employers and the local community in Singapore. 3.2 To have all such other objects and do all such other things as are complementary or incidental to the attainment of the foregoing objects, or any of them and particularly as follows: -To facilitate and provide livelihood development courses and training for FDWs, to enhance their lifelong employability. -To provide cross-cultural communication trainings to FDWs for good relations. -To provide opportunities for FDWs for social integration and community building.
Vision/Mission
The vision of FAST is to promote the importance of skill upgrading and provide vocational skills training for foreign domestic workers in Singapore to increase their contributions, improve their employability and have a better future
Programs/Activities
Our activity plan for the next 2 years focuses on the following areas: 1 Skills Training - the main focus of FAST is to provide livelihood development courses and skill upgrading. Currently FATS has more than 20 training courses, including computer, music, cooking etc. The training will take place at various training providers' premises and community centers. This is to improve accessibility and minimise traveling time/ cost of FDWs. The training are usually conducted on Sunday which is the rest day for most of the FDWs. FAST will continue to review the running of existing courses such as the standard of service by its training provider and course usefulness. FAST will also include new courses that FDWs are interested and have greater value. This will also including life skill courses like stress management etc. 2 Promotion and engaging the society - FATS would like the Singapore society to have better understand and appreciation of FDW's work and contributions. 3 Graduation ceremony - This will be an yearly event to recognise the FDW who scarifies their rest days for learning and to show appreciation to employers who supported their FDWs in their learning journey, eg, give them time off or off day or even monetary support, to enable and facilitate their FDW to learn. 4 Community service - FAST plans to hold 1 or 2 community services while FDWs of cooking lessons cook for elderly. 5 Cultural activities - eg Rice Dumpling and Moon Cake Festival - FDWs learn the stories of these festivals and learn how to make rice dumplings and moon cakes.
