Objectives
They are firstly to provide a place of worship for persons of the Buddhist faith which is provided for by the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple situate at 178 Waterloo Street Singapore 187964 and secondly to donate income monies for charitable or other worthy purposes as the Trustees deem fit.
Vision/Mission
Programs/Activities
1. Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple - Professorship in Computing. This was initiated in mid 2000 and was officially launched on 15th December 2000 by President S. R. Nathan. This professorship has made significant contributions to teaching and research in computer science at the National University of Singapore. 2. Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple - Educational Bursary This was launched in early November 1998. Each year financial assistance is provided to between 500 and 800 needy students at all levels of education in Singapore. 3. Endowment Funds Endowment and Scholarship funds have been set up at the National University of Singapore, Singapore Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. 4. Religious Education A programme of publication was instituted in 2001. So far 5 Buddhist publications for free donation have been produced. 5. Promotion of health and provision of medical care. In collaboration with the National Kidney Foundation the Charity set up the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple - NKF Dialysis Centre which was opened in 1998. In it fully funded by the Charity and provides life saving dialysis for us to 156 patients. In 2000, the Charity embarked on a second project with the National Kidney Foundation to provide health screening for Singaporeans. 6. Gift of Food Project. In 2003 the Charity embarked on a project to provide food and other essentials to homes particularly those for the poor, needy and destitute run by Voluntary Welfare Organisations. 7.Establishment of Funds with Educational and Medical Institutions Funds have been set up with The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and The Ren Ci Hospital & Medicare Centre (the Hospital) to provide scholarships to deserving students and financial assistance to poor and needy patients at NAFA and the Hospital respectively.The scholarships and financial assistance are granted if the student and patient as the case may be satisfies certain criteria laid down by the Charity and is subject at all times to the Charity's written approval being first obtained .
