Objectives
SymAsia Foundation Limited is registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee with charitable objeects defined in the Memorandum and Articles of Association (M&AA). It is an umbrella foundation established to promote philanthropy. SymAsia intends to set up a sub-structure called the "SymAsia IPC Fund" to focus solely on donations to Institutions of a Public Character (IPC) in Singapore only. The application for Charity/IPC status applies only to the "SymAsia IPC Fund" and not to the overall SymAsia entity. The main objectives of the "SymAsia IPC Fund" are identical to those of SymAsia as stated within the attached M&AA. However, for the "SymAsia IPC Fund", these objects would apply in the Singapore context only. Further, the "SymAsia IPC Fund" will adopt the Code of Governance for Charities & IPCs, this will be the governing instrument for the governing board members of the "SymAsia IPC Fund". The main objectives:1. The relief of poverty 2. The advancement of education 3. The advancement of religion and the promotion of interfaith and/or intercultural understanding and harmony; 4. any other purposes including but not limited to: a. the advancement of health; b. the advancement of citizenship or community development; c. the advancement of arts, heritage, culture or science; d. the advancement of environmental protection or improvement; e. the relieft of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages; f. the advancement of animal welfare; g. the advancement of sport and/or other recreational activities; and h. the advancement of the status of women; 5. To provide grants, aids and/or assistance towards and/or in furtherance of any of the objects of the Company; 6. To aid, assist and give relief in any matter and to any extent to any charitable institution whose object or objects are similar to or comparable with the objects of the Company, including hospitals, sanatoria, homes or places of refuge or shelter, educational institutions, schools, orphanages, libraries, universities, industrial welfare establishments and other charitable organizations Provided Always that notwithstanding anything heretofore contained no grant or assistance shall be given which shall be in aid of any political organization or for any political purpose; 7. To create awareness, improve the levels and manners of giving, encourage charitable giving by providing and/or organizing talks, seminars, philanthropy advisory services and/or to facilitate an exchange of ideas, gathering of resources, promoting research and development of strategies and actions to be undertaken to more effectively do charitable work; 8. To create innovative and/or customized philanthropic solutions and respond effectively to the needs, interests, wishes and/or directions of donors; 9. To carry out any other objects that are of a charitable, benevolent or philanthropic nature howsoever defined, as the Company may deem appropriate.
Vision/Mission
Mission: To provide flexible and creative philanthropic opportunities and programs to help donors meet their giving needs. The foundation is politically and religiously neutral.
Programs/Activities
The "SymAsia IPC Fund" will be established as a sub-structure with the SymAsia entity, and will focus 100% on donations to Institutions of a Public Character (IPC) in Singapore only. The principal activities of the "SymAsia IPC Fund" are the same as those of SymAsia as described in the overview document attached, with the exception that these activities will be executed for donations in Singapore only. The beneficial areas are: a) Humanitarian and Social Development b) Protection of Nature and the Environment c) Education d) Culture and the Arts e) Health and Sports in Singapore
