Mr John Lim is the Second Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). In this capacity, he oversees policy formulation and the planning and delivery of programmes and social services that help to ensure a robust social safety net for the needy and vulnerable, support the effective protection and rehabilitation of children and youth, nurture strong families, and build a strong social service sector.
Prior to his current appointment, John was Senior Director in charge of the Social Policy and Services Group at MSF, overseeing policy formulation and the planning and delivery of social services for vulnerable individuals and communities in Singapore including the poor, elderly, persons with disabilities, and families with other social issues. Before MSF, John served in various capacities at the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, Public Service Division, and Monetary Authority of Singapore.
John graduated from Cornell University with Bachelor’s degrees in Economics (magna cum laude) and Operations Research & Industrial Engineering (magna cum laude with honours). He also earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was designated Arjay Miller Scholar.
