To adapt to the community’s complex and ever-changing needs, Social Service Agencies (SSAs) must rethink and redesign volunteering roles to meaningfully leverage volunteers’ time and skills to meet these needs and enhance the volunteering experience.
Between February and March 2024, 86 participants from 50 SSAs attended the NCSS Volunteer Role Redesign (VRR) workshops. Through the workshops, the SSAs learnt the steps for VRR, examined existing roles and assessed emerging needs to create new or redesign existing volunteer roles. SSAs shared new/redesigned roles that would augment manpower, with five roles voted as the most replicable for the sector.
This brochure features the descriptions of these five roles. You may use the descriptions to implement or adapt these roles in your agency according to your needs.
